Honda Motor Co is recalling 1,532 of its Inspire and Sabre passenger cars in Japan following a fatal accident in the United States involving a ruptured air bag.

Honda Motor Co. Ltd. added 440,000 Accords, Civics and Acura TLs to a recall to fix air bag inflation systems that may overinflate and rupture the devices.

Honda Motor Co. today expanded a previous recall by 440,000 vehicles because of a problem with the airbags. The recall affects some 2001 and 2002 Honda Accords, 2001 Civics, and 2002 and 2003 Acura TLs.

A safety recall of the driver's air bag in certain Honda vehicles is being expanded to include more vehicles. The recall now involves certain 2001-2002 Honda Accords, 2001 Civics and 2002-2003 Acura TL's.
